Inclement Weather — School Transportation Cancellations

On mornings when weather and road conditions make transportation unsafe, please listen to local radio stations for transportation cancellations or school closures. Information is also posted to the OCDSB website www.ocdsb.ca ,

Please note that when school buses are cancelled this applies to the whole day, although schools remain open for students. Parents who choose to drive their children to school must also pick them up at the regular dismissal time. The safety of students is always the first consideration when the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) makes the decision to cancel transportation services.

GLEBE ROBOTICS DOES IT AGAIN

The Glebe Robotics team fielded three robots at the December 1st Vex Robotics Competition held at Woburn Collegiate in Scarborough. After 7 hours of qualification matches Glebe Robotics had two teams place 23 & 24. Our third team ran into technical problems but still finished 53 out of 71 teams.

Our 23 rd place team, 1053C, dubbed the ‘battle bot’ by the judges, was picked for an alliance to compete in the playoffs. Our alliance won its semifinal match handily and looked forward to the quarter finals

In our second quarter final we were engaged in a heated defensive battle with a much larger robot. Although we won the match much to the delight of the audience, due to an entanglement with the other team’s robot, we were disqualified.

It was a bitter pill to swallow, but we can be proud of our accomplishment, and the fact that the three teams represented Glebe in a professional manner.

Glebe robotics 1053c not only played extremely well, but their robot also won the prestigious Judges Award for robot design and execution excellence
