Canada’s first 5km Night Skate! is scheduled for Friday, January 27th at 7 p.m. on the Rideau Canal; it is the  Energizer Night Skate at NHL®  All-Star to Light up the Night for Kids and the Community, the event will benefit the Sens Foundation. Cost of Registration: $20 per personEach participant will receive a free Energizer ® LED Headlight and Officially Licensed Energizer ® Night Skate at NHL® All-Star toque*. The Employment Access Centre Career Fair will be held Thursday, January 26th, 2012 from 1 to 4 pm at the YM/YWCA, 180 Argyle Avenue. You can meet local employers and explore available positions in many fields.

 

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is hosting Career Presentations Friday, February 3rd at 10 am at Northern Lights Canada, 1980 Olgilvie Road.

Student Events: UBC Life As I Know It   At this evening information session, students and their parents have an opportunity to meet a current UBC student (and their parent!) who is originally from Ontario.  Students will also have the chance to connect with UBC experts to have their questions answered and start planning life at UBC.  Ottawa: Sunday, January 22nd   Sign up on-line at:  https://you.ubc.ca/ubc/events/on.ezc

 

Grade 11 students of exceptional potential and who would benefit from a pre-university experience are invited to Waterloo University during March Break.  From engineering and the environment to science fiction and virtual reality, students will spend a week exploring the theme of Design with a community of like-minded peers.  Program Fee: $450 and Hotel Accommodation: $300.  Limited bursary support is available for students in financial need.  See Ms McManus in Student Services for details.

 

An Opportunity for a week of Enrichment  Grade 9 to 12 students who are highly motivated and demonstrate above average and gifted potential are invited to Queen’s University to study a subject of interest to them at an advanced level for one week in May.  See Ms McManus in Student Services for more information.

The City of Ottawa, Volunteer Services will host a community Volunteer Marketplace on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre, from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. See the bulletin board outside of Student Services for details. (F9)

The Ottawa Senators Alumni are pleased to announce a scholarship program for both male and female graduating high school hockey players.  The program invites applications for a scholarship based on the player’s academic accomplishments, athletic leadership and community involvement. F2
